  • Golf Attire
    • We know fashion trends on the course are rapidly changing, but we ask that you comply with our traditional dress code for the best interest of all members. You can still wear joggers, hooded sweatshirts, and all the fabric you want so long as you tuck in your golf shirt and don’t wear your hat backward.

      Men

Slacks, conservative-length shorts, tucked-in golf shirts, and turtle or mock turtle shirts are required. Denim is not permitted. Golf-designed hooded sweatshirts are allowed on the golf course and practice area. Joggers are also allowed as long as they resemble golf pants. No sweatpants of any kind are permitted.

      Women

Appropriate attire for ladies includes the following: shirts may have short sleeves, long sleeves, or sleeveless. Shirts without collars must have sleeves. Any type of tank top or halter top is not permitted. Golf shorts, skirts, dresses, leggings, and slacks are considered acceptable golf attire. Specifically designed golf attire for ladies must be no shorter than mid-thigh.

      Golf Shoes

Appropriate shoes include those that have approved soft spikes or dimpled soles. Sneakers are permitted. Inappropriate shoes include shoes with metal or ceramic penetrating spikes or any footwear that may cause damage to the golf course or practice areas.

  • Clubhouse Attire
    • Like members, guests are required to wear golf casual inside the clubhouse. Dress denim is permitted, except for the Hunt Room. “Dress denim” is solid color denim that is not wrinkled, ripped, torn, frayed, fringed, or faded. Multi-colored or acid-washed denim is not permitted. Hats are not allowed to be worn inside unless entering directly into the locker rooms. And despite how cool it looks, hats will not be worn backward anywhere on club property.

      Men

Golf casual implies a collared golf shirt with sleeves, a turtleneck shirt, a mock turtleneck shirt, full-length slacks, and Bermuda-length shorts (no cutoffs). Gentlemen may wear “dress denim” in all areas of the Clubhouse except the Hunt Room. Shirts must remain tucked in at all times unless the dress shirt was designed to be untucked.

      Women

Golf casual implies skirts, dress slacks, and tops. Tops designed to be worn outside pants are acceptable, providing it is hemmed. Ladies may wear a sleeveless top with a collar. Tank tops or tube tops are not acceptable. Ladies may wear “dress denim” in all areas of the Clubhouse except for the Hunt Room. Clubhouse attire may be changed for specific events at the discretion of the General Manager and host party.

  • Golf Guidelines
    • We’re not a stuffy country club, but etiquette and pace of play are of the utmost importance to the membership and the total experience we can offer to our guests. These are the priorities and responsibilities of all members of the Country Club of Maryland and therefore will be judiciously observed and enforced. Play fast and have fun.

      Arrival

All golfers must register with the professional staff in the golf shop before beginning play. All play must start from the 1st tee unless permission is given by the professional staff to begin elsewhere.

Guests are required to park in designated parking areas; refrain from parking in unloading zones, around the perimeter of the pro shop or along driveways; and drive carefully and slowly while on club property.

There is a bag drop located on the right of the golf shop. Please use this service to load or unload golf bags as well as to notify the golf staff of your plans for the day.

      Pace of Play

To maintain and enhance the enjoyment of golf at the Country Club of Maryland, we ask that a round of golf not exceed 4 hours for a foursome. Our professionals will be monitoring the pace of play and notifying those groups of not maintaining the proper pace. If individuals and groups concern themselves with maintaining their position in relationship to the group ahead of them, consistent speed of play will be maintained.

      Golf Cart Policies

      • Carts must be operated with no more than two riders and two golf bags at one time.
      • Carts must remain on paths where provided at all times around the tees, greens, and par threes.
      • Carts must exit fairways and return to the paths beside the white posts with the red markings in the proximity of the greens.
      • Obey all signs for carts on the course. No one under the age of 16 may operate a cart.
      • Carts should be returned to the cart area no later than fifteen minutes before sundown.
      • Repeated failure to observe cart rules will result in loss of rental privileges.
      • It is the responsibility of the Members to inform their guests of cart rules and ensure that they are observed.

The Country Club of Maryland does not have a caddie program. Push carts are available for rent. Guests are not permitted to bring their push carts.

  • Wireless Communication Devices
    • Cellular telephones or other wireless communication devices must remain in “silent” mode while on Club property. Devices may not be used for incoming or outgoing calls on the golf course, on or around practice areas (i.e. driving range, practice area, and putting greens), inside the golf shop, or the Clubhouse. This includes the use of wireless headphones (e.g. Airpods). Cell phones may be used for incoming and outgoing calls only in the parking lot, front porch of the golf shop, and locker rooms. And don’t be that person taking a call on speaker or FaceTime, it’s not permitted and someone will say something to you.

Laptops and tablets are permitted to be used in the club except for the Hunt Room, however, the volume must be always silenced. Video and phone calls using a laptop or tablet are not permitted except for the locker room desk areas or parking lot. Texting, emails, and other silent cell phone activities are permitted as long as you are not infringing on another member's enjoyment of the club. We encourage you to take photos and tag us on Instagram (@countryclubofmaryland).

  • Demeanor on Club Property
    • No rude or offensive conduct or language is permitted on club property. Guests are expected to always be considerate of and courteous to other members and guests, and all club employees and staff.

Members or guests are not allowed to discipline or reprimand club employees. Problems concerning employees should be reported to the hosting member. The member is responsible for a written complaint addressed to the General Manager.

Physical, vulgar, or verbal accosting of another member, guest, or staff member is subject to a penalty, including a ban. The hosting member is also subject to immediate suspension or expulsion, and removal from any club events during that time with no refund of entry fees as applicable.

  • Smoking and Legalized Cannabis
    • Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas. The use, possession, smoking, vaping, ingestion, or consumption of legalized cannabis including both recreational and medical forms on club premises is strictly prohibited. This applies to all areas, including all indoor and outdoor facilities, parking lots, vehicles, and event functions operated by the Club. This rule has been established in alignment with The Country Club of Maryland’s standards of conduct and compliance with federal and the State of Maryland’s regulations. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action.
